White House Confirms Pompeo Recapture after Desperate Flee to North Korea
The White House today confirmed that incoming Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, had been recaptured after fleeing to North Korea ahead of his cabinet promotion.
A distressed Mr. Pompeo was handed back to US authorities at the DMZ after prolonged talks between Secretary Mattis and the Kim regime.
Pentagon sources have indicated that Mr. Pompeo fled to Asia over the Easter break and is believed to have presented a petition for political asylum to the North Korean government on Easter Sunday.
Despite Mr. Pompeo's attempted escape, it is believed that President Trump still intends to send his nomination to the Senate for confirmation. A spokesperson for Majority Leader McConnell indicated that the GOP will have the votes to ratify the nomination if Mr. Pompeo remains the President's choice.
